This year, as Workers’ Memorial Day was on a Saturday, a ceremony was held on Friday 27th April, at the Town Hall complex.
Although the weather wasn’t good there were still representatives from UNISON, the NUT, the Council and councillors present at the service.
John Carew, MP for Leyton, Vince Borg, from UNISON National, a solicitor from Thompsons, Mick Holder from the Trades Council, Rinaldo Frezzato from the NUT and the Mayor all gave speeches in support of Health and Safety.
As usual purple ribbons were on sale at the ceremony and at workplaces and £301.30 was raised for charity in support of victims and families of those affected by lapses in Health and Safety.
We would like to thank both UNISON members and the general public for their support on this important day.
