The Government’s economic plan – cutting hundreds of thousands of jobs, slashing vital public services, an ongoing pay freeze and attacks on the welfare state – is making the economy worse not better and the demonstration on Saturday 20 October under the banner ‘march for a future that works’ will demand an alternative.
The march isn’t just for trade unionists. It’s for everyone suffering due to the Government’s poverty agenda. Our members should be marching with their family, friends and neighbours as well as local community and faith groups and the local Labour Party to make their voices heard.
The Branch Banner will be leaving from Walthamstow Central Station at 10am. Why not join us and march with your fellow members?
The 20 October aims to better the 26 March 2011 which saw 1/2 million people, many of them UNISON members, marching through the streets of London.
“I don’t want a society where vital public services are run for profit. The government should put people first – let’s tell them that”.
“Public services are the safety net for a lot of people. I’m marching because I want to support those people who need public services”.
