UNISON has finally received the Council’s Asbestos Management Plan for the Town Hall. It identifies 87 areas which are contaminated with asbestos. The Plan recommends that in 13 areas the asbestos is removed, 2 areas it is encapsulated and the other areas are labelled and managed. Work was carried out in the Town Hall in the week beginning 27th May 2013. UNISON is still trying to find out what actual work was done.
What is worrying is why the 13 areas for removal were not identified last year when major works were undertaken? Have any other areas been missed?
