One of our members recently fell foul of the Council’s unreliable HR procedures. The printed procedure also available on the intranet said that paid special leave was available for up to 20 days for taking dependant relatives to hospital appointments. When our member tried to claim that she was told, “Sorry that’s a misprint. It should be unpaid leave”. UNISON is left wondering whether HR can just claim a misprint whenever they don’t like whatever is written in their own procedures and just change it on a whim. It further demonstrates the shoddy standards that the Council appears to adopt these days.
