Blacklisted Construction Workers’ Day of Action

After years of campaigning more than 3200 building workers, many of who were trade union members, are to be compensated after being blacklisted from working on building sites.

The blacklist was uncovered following a raid by the Information Commissioner’s Office in 2009.  Workers involved claimed they were denied work, often for merely raising legitimate concerns about health and safety on building sites.  The companies involved have joined together to establish the Construction Workers’ Compensation Scheme.

The TUC, UCATT and other unions with construction members are holding a day of action on blacklisting on Wednesday 20th November.  More information can be found at http://www.ucatt.org.uk/blacklisting
