Members can find themselves having to face questions from their managers for a number of reasons. They can face allegations of breach of confidentiality or more generally bringing the company into disrepute due to comments about the workplace or even downloaded photographs from work. However staff can also face problems even when posting about issues that on the face of it have nothing to do with their employment. This could be just jokey views on current affairs or any comments that might be taken out of context or misinterpreted.
ACAS have drawn up policy guidance for employers and your employer should have a social media at work policy. Please make sure you read it.
Don’t be a victim of social media, watch what you post!
