Our children’s education matters. Teaching assistants, many of them UNISON members, play a major role in delivering that education, yet they remain unsung heroes in our education system.
That’s why we are taking a day, 29 November, to highlight what a great job they do.
We want all our members to help us celebrate and show support for UNISON’s campaign to speak up for teaching assistants and the important work they do. See why in our film.
What you can do to support teaching assistants
If you have a child, grandchild or any family member in school, say thank you to their teaching assistant for all the work they do and remind your headteacher and school governors how much you value their school’s teaching assistants.
If you work in a school, display our poster in your staff room and tell your colleagues about the celebration. Ask your branch to order our special stickers, posters and leaflets. You can also join the conversation on the UNISONinSchools Facebook page or on Twitter@UNISONinSchools.
If you are a school governor, please take time to talk to your school’s teaching assistants about the great job they do and remind your headteacher that teaching assistants are important members of the school team.
Register your support for teaching assistants on our national website.
Teaching assistants are worth celebrating – join in on 29 November.
