Branch Pay Ballot‏......

This is your opportunity to vote in the national branch consultation on the employers’ pay offer!  Everyone on NJC (Green Book) pay and conditions working in councils, schools, academies and other bodies such as ALMOs are covered by the pay proposals.

Ballot papers are currently being sent out via email and post.  If you are entitled to vote and do not get a ballot paper contact the Branch Office. Continue reading

Time to make work better......

UNISON has welcomed a new report on making work better as a step in the right direction that politicians can’t afford to ignore

Making work better: an agenda for government has been published by the Smith Institute following an enquiry chaired by former ACAS chief Ed Sweeney. It calls for more secure jobs, better pay and a voice for people in the workplace. Continue reading

Let’s keep our collective voice – vote YES in the political fund ballot......

Under a law introduced by Margaret Thatcher all unions have to ballot their members every ten years to see if they want to maintain their political fund.  The reason she did this was because she was fed up with trade unions using their political funds to be an effective campaign voice for their members!  UNISON’s ten yearly ballot takes place in November, with ballot paper going out in the forthcoming edition of U magazine.  Continue reading

Che Guevara’s daughter in UK......

Aleida GuevaraAleida Guevara to speak in London

Ché Guevara’s daughter, Aleida, will be in Britain this winter for a short speaking tour and to participate in the Vigil for the Miami Fiveand Latin America Conference 2014.

Aleida will join hundreds protesting outside the US Embassy on Wednesday 3 December from 6-7.30pm for the annual Candlelight Vigil for the Miami Five. Continue reading
