At least 2,000 demonstrators encircled the City Hall and demanded Mayor Boris Johnson urgently tackle the lack of affordable housing in the capital. They said an urgent action is also needed to curb the spiralling rents that they said are “ripping the heart” out of London.
Organisers hope that the March for Homes, the first of its type to unify campaigners, tenants, trade unionists on the inequalities caused by housing policies, will lead to a wholesale rethink on housing policy.
