Walthamstow unions campaign to help homeless charity find new facility

The number of homeless in Waltham Forest is growing by the day. For decades the Christian Kitchen has been providing a square meal everyday of the year for anyone who turns up – now up to around 50 every night.

They were using facilities at Branches of Forest Road to prepare the meals. That facility has now been withdrawn and the Christian Kitchen has been offered no alternative.

Tommy Anderson of WF Trades Council regularly helps serve up the food, and says “This is an outrage. Long before giving notice, Branches should have worked with the council to provide another kitchen. Just because people are homeless they should still be treated with dignity.”

A protest has been called for Thursday 27th April at 7pm in the Car Park opposite Mission Grove School. See attached leaflet for details and further events. This is supported by all trade unions and anti-austerity campaigners.
