Firefighters launch Grenfell: Never Again campaign......

The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) called for urgent action on a range of fire and building safety issues to prevent another Grenfell, launching a campaign with the Daily Mirror. On the second anniversary of the tragedy, action to prevent a similar fire has been wholly insufficient, with little to nothing being done to tackle the structural issues that led to the tragedy.  Click here to read more.

Tax cut for higher earners is absurd after years of austerity......

Commenting on the announcement from Conservative Party leadership contender Boris Johnson that he would cut taxes for higher earners, UNISON general secretary Dave Prentis said:

Government must take responsibility on TV licences, says TUC......

Responding to the news that free TV licences for over 75s will be limited to just those on pension credits, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“After a decade of unfair austerity, this is another blow to pensioners.

“The government should never have palmed responsibility for pensioner’s free TV licences off to the BBC.

“They should take responsibility for this now and restore the benefit to all over-75s”
