March on 26th March – National Demonstration

March for Public Services on 26 March sign up now
The Big national demonstration is not far away now. This demo is probably the most important event for public sector workers that the TUC has ever organised. All of us know just how tough the cuts are and most of our members are facing very uncertain futures. UNISON is also aware that the cuts to our local services are going to make life even tougher for many of our local residents.

The march is to show the world that public sector workers and the services they provide are vital. It is also to demonstrate that there is an alternative to the cuts. UNISON believes that closing legal loopholes that allow the rich and wealthy to avoid paying tax, pursuing those who evade their tax illegally and introducing a tax on financial transaction (the Robin Hood Tax) would enable us to maintain and improve public services whilst paying off the national deficit.

This is going to be our one big chance to show that we are prepared to stand up for public services, our jobs and our services.

The TUC hope that a million people will turn out to support the march. Make sure that your friends, family and work colleagues all know about the march. Encourage them to join us and ask them to sign up to the pledge that is attached. When you have signed up as many people as you can, please return the form to the branch office so that we can keep a note of how many we anticipate attending from our branch.

The branch banner intends to leave Walthamstow Central at 10 am on the morning of the 26th. Please encourage all UNISON members to meet up with us there. Any family members, friends and neighbours will be welcome to join us.

I cannot stress enough just how important this march is. If you are going to protest against the cuts at all then make it for this one.
