After concerns raised by UNISON about the management of asbestos in Waltham Forest, the HSE have issued an Improvement Order on the Council. UNISON is meeting with the Lead Inspector next Wednesday (6th March), the outcome of which will be published on the website.
Major refurbishments are taking place at several sites across the Borough, these include Gainsford Road, Rowan House, Harvey House and the Town Hall. Works were started, and some cases nearly completed, before UNISON were told. It was members who were affected by the work that contacted the Union, the Council did not see fit to consult with UNISON on the proposed work.
