Update on Young Trade Unionists Brigade to Cuba: 28 April – 09 May 2014

This is a unique opportunity to visit Cuba, meet Cuban trade unionists and solidarity activists from across the globe, and participate in the legendary May Day celebration in Havana.

Places on the Brigade are limited and CSC want to ensure that all who might like to take part get the opportunity to and that they register early to avoid disappointment.

The Brigade will take place from 28 April to 09 May 2014. Despite rising plane fares CSC have managed to keep the price at £1,449 inclusive of flight, accommodation, meals and internal transport.

Reserving a place is as simple as returning the booking form with a £100 deposit. It is a case of first come, first served. The later the booking, the less they can guarantee getting flights at the special reduced rate they have negotiated. So CSC really do urge all those who want to participate to get their deposit in now.

The final programme for the 12 days will be sent out close to the time, but CSC can confirm that in addition to taking part in the million-strong May Day celebration in Havana on 1 May 2014 participants will:

  •  Meet families of the Miami Five and take part in discussions over how to build the campaign for their release
  • Visit the iconic memorial to Che Guevara in Santa Clara, where he led some of the key battles of the Revolution
  • Meet and discuss current issues with Cuban workers with visits to hospitals, schools, workplaces and neighbourhoods
  • Visit the Museum of the Revolution and local Committee for the Defence of the Revolution, and take part in many educational and cultural events

Please note that their office is moving to a new address this week:  CSC, C/o Unite the Union, 33-37 Moreland Street London, EC1V 8BB – application forms and all correspondence should be sent to that address.

Please feel free to make contact if you have any questions at all about the Brigade or if you are interested in taking part.
