Low Paid Staff at SOAS are striking for two days over terms and conditions......

More than 50 members who are cleaners and maintenance staff at The School of Oriental and African Studies in London (SOAS) are taking two days strike action yesterday and today (Wednesday) in a long-running dispute over terms and conditions.

The workers, who are employed by ISS Facility Services, receive only statutory sick pay and the statutory minimum annual leave. Colleagues employed directly by SOAS receive contractual sick pay, 30 days annual leave and a defined benefits pension scheme.  Continue reading

Funeral for council services: PROTEST Town Hall, 6.30pm, Thursday 6 March

On Thursday Waltham Forest Council is holding its budget setting meeting. This will be yet another cuts budget, including attacks on local jobs and services and privatisations. They’re killing services, so we’ll be holding a ‘funeral for council services’ outside. TUSC is appealing for all local people and campaigns to join us on the night. We’ll be highlighting the cuts, asking councillors to vote against and pledging to stand against them in May if they fail, as all evidence until now suggests they will. Continue reading

Cuba Project – Help Needed......
