UNISON Members working for Waltham Forest Council – say ‘yes’ to the ballot

All UNISON members working for Waltham Forest Council should now have received, or will shortly be receiving, their ballot paper. The union and this branch are strongly recommending that we all vote “Yes” to taking strike action. Our pay has fallen behind every other public sector and the private sector. We have suffered the worst pay reductions across the country since 2010 and our members are now 18 to 25% worse off as a result of the Government’s austerity agenda and the Council imposed pay cuts to lower paid workers in 2012. We have to stand up now or we will fall even further behind as the government pay offer of 1% does not even match inflation.

The Branch is holding a meeting for all members on Wednesday 11th June at 12:30pm at the Waltham Forest Town Hall Council Chamber. We hope to have a speaker from UNISON and to have a presentation of our claim and the reasons that we are advocating taking action now.

All members are invited so please come along and take part in the debate and make sure you vote in this important ballot.

If you have not got your ballot paper by 29th May then you will need to call the ballot hot line on 0800 0857 857. This hotline is in operation up to 18th June when it will close and this will be the final opportunity to request a ballot paper. The ballot itself formally closes on 23rd June 2014.
