The nomination form for the Branch officer positions for UNISON in Waltham Forest are attached. Please consider whether you would like to stand for one of these positions or whether any of your UNISON colleagues would be interested. The nomination period closes on 8th December and successful candidates will take up their positions after the AGM.
As part of Thatcher’s legacy the union has to hold a ballot regarding its political fund every 10 years. As you may know UNISON’S Political Fund is divided into a General Political Fund for general campaigning and the Affiliated Political Fund that goes to the Labour Party. The ballot papers were sent out with the last issue of U Magazine, which you should have received by now. The ballot closes on 30th November 2014.
The Branch AGM will be held on Wednesday 4th March 2014. Please make a note in your diary now. It will be in the Waltham Forest Town Hall Council Chamber at 12 noon and will be held again for members who cannot get to a lunch time meeting at 4pm. Please make sure you attend so that your voice is heard and encourage all your UNISON work colleagues to come along too. This is a meeting open to all members. Members are entitled to make suggestions and draw up motions for the meeting so please send any ideas that you may have into the branch office.

With so many of the senior posts being vacated this is an exciting time for the branch and the dawning of a new era. Please have a look at the form and talk to your UNISON colleagues. Consider who you would like to see as the lead representatives of your UNISON branch and nominate them (with their agreement of course). Continue reading
