Attached is the nomination form for the election of branch officers for 2015. A new Branch Secretary, Branch Chair and Branch Treasurer need to be found as the present holders of those positions will all be standing down. All the other positions on the form are also up for election so please consider standing for a position. With so many of the senior posts being vacated this is an exciting time for the branch and the dawning of a new era. Please have a look at the form and talk to your UNISON colleagues. Consider who you would like to see as the lead representatives of your UNISON branch and nominate them (with their agreement of course).
The branch secretary position attracts full time secondment for Council employed staff. Whoever is elected to that post will be released to work from the UNISON office full time and will be paid their current salary whilst they occupy that position. Training is available for the new branch secretary, who would actually take up the post immediately following our Branch AGM on 4th March 2015.
Branch Chair is a senior position in the branch and we really need an enthusiastic UNISON member to take up the role which obviously includes chairing our branch meetings and our branch committee. Again, training is available and the new chair will take up their position at the AGM.
Branch Treasurer is also a senior position and is responsible for ensuring that the branch keeps proper, legal accounts and works to a budget which will be set at the AGM. There is also training available for this work.
We also need people to apply to represent the branch as delegates at conferences and regional meetings.
