Parliament will “Debate in the House the Local Government Pension Scheme Investment Regulations”......
A few weeks ago our Retired Members’ Secretary signed a petition calling for the government to drop its plans to place restrictions on the Local Government Pension Scheme’s investment policies. The Government wants to take control of LGPS investment. It appears that the government wants the LGPS to invest in UK infrastructure projects and wants to ensure that the LGPS provides some of the finance required. It is his view that the members of the scheme should be able to decide how their money should be invested. Transport Select Committee report shows why government should terminate Southern rail’s contract, says TUC......
Commenting on last Friday’s Transport Select Committee report ‘The Future of Rail: Improving the rail passenger experience’, which concludes that Southern rail is in breach of contractual obligations and there may be grounds for termination of contract, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:
“MPs are confirming what passengers have known for a long time. Southern rail’s management have made a pig’s ear out of the train service.
“Southern simply isn’t providing the service it is contracted to, and have tried to blame staff and unions for its problems. It is time for the government to terminate their contract.”
