Inquest delivers “accidental death” verdict at Romanian Marian Nemit’s inquest......

A verdict of accidental death was delivered by the jury at the inquest into 21 year old Marian Nemit’s death. The jury were instructed to deliver that verdict by the Coroner.

Graphic detail of the death of Romanian Marian Nemit, 21, was revealed at the inquest in Walthamstow yesterday. Marian died after a wall collapsed on him working on a shop conversion job at the 844 Leyton High Rd, Leyton, E10 on 14 April 2015. Continue reading

Cedar Wood House will be closed to the public on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 September 2017......

Due tow ork being carried out in the reception area the building will be closed to the public, reopening on Wednesday at 1pm.  Work will continue for several weeks which  will cause some disruption.  If members need urgent assistance regarding housing or homelessness on these days they can call Customer Service on 0208 496 3000.

Statement on Hale End Library......

Last July, the council took proposals to Cabinet setting out its vision and people’s aspirations for libraries and the potential for community involvement in the future. Waltham Forest’s Housing Summit a Sham......

Friday’s Housing Summit held at Waltham Forest Town Hall was glossy materials and slick presentations which boiled down to a series of sales pitches. “Choose my company to be the council’s partner to build homes” or “Let my outfit profit from your residents’ needs” was the real motive for holding and attending the event.

Linda Taaffe of Waltham Forest Trades Council intervened at the summit saying: “These private companies are not addressing the needs of the thousands of people registered in housing need, or even those who live in need but don’t see any point in registering. The market will not solve the problems. Housing is a social need. We need thousands of council homes at social rent.Continue reading
