In memory of Dave Knight 12/7/55-24/8/19

Some of you may already be aware that retired Waltham Forest Branch Secretary Dave Knight, who was also our Retired Members Secretary, sadly lost his battle against cancer on Saturday.

Dave joined Waltham Forest in 1987 as a social worker and was always active in the trade union during his career. Dave became Branch Secretary in June 1997 and always put 110% effort into his role. UNISON was more than a job to Dave and the members were more than just people to him. He was truly passionate about them, alongside his other loves such as Leyton Orient, running, music and a good beer! He retired in July 2015 after 18 years working in the branch office, though he often came to the office to help out after that. He was a popular man, kind and generous, a real gentleman. He will be sorely missed by UNISON Waltham Forest and the wider UNION and its members. Dave also chaired the Trades Council which incorporated various UNIONS.  He was widely respected by all.
Dave’s loss will also be greatly felt by the labour and trade union movement and in the community.
We do not currently have any information in terms of funeral arrangements. We send our heartfelt condolences to Ann and his family at this very difficult time.
