The big chapel wasn’t large enough to hold all those who turned up, with a good number having to stand and listen to the service broadcast outside on speakers. It was a humanist service with dedications from Leyton Orient supporters, Unison Waltham Forest, the East London Runners and his life partner Anne.
His coffin was draped with the Unison Waltham Forest banner and there were several union and campaign banners and a good few union, football and band t-shirts worn..
There were some laughs about his directional inability in the car and other traits – and plenty of tears.
