Tomorrow we march on......
Thanks to everyone who joined us. It was a terrific day but we obviously still have a lot of work to do to convince this government that there is an alternative way to deal with the national deficit rather than cutting public services, increasing unemployment and causing mass distress to the people. Here’s a flyer for the demonstration on Saturday week. It’s really important that all our members support this event. To achieve any impact this march has to be massive.
Our branch are meeting at Walthamstow Selborne Walk at 9:30am for a brief rally with other local trade union branches before we leave from Walthamstow Central at 10am in order to arrive at Embankment at 11am to join the march.
Protect our Pensions......
Not only is the Tory-led Government dismantling our public services but they are also attacking public sector pension schemes as can be seen from the recommendations in the Hutton Report. Their proposals will leave people working longer, paying more and getting less. They have already imposed a 3% increase in contributions starting in 2012 and that’s just for starters.
