Waltham Forest council will be sentenced at Southwark Crown Court over asbestos......

The date has been set (February 16th, Southwark Crown Court) for the sentencing of Waltham Forest council for putting employees’ lives at risk by failing to deal with deadly asbestos in the basement of its town hall.  We will have reps present – HSE v LBWF.

Waltham Forest Council Guilty of failing to manage asbestos......

Westminster Mags Court 19 1 (12)Waltham Forest Council today pleaded guilty to 4 charges under the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Control of Asbestos regulations. The HSE prosecuted the case against the Council, which involved the Council’s failure to carry out remedial works and properly manage asbestos in the basement at Waltham Forest Town Hall. HSE prosecuting Waltham Forest Council over asbestos dust in the Town Hall......

The council will appear in court on January 19 at Westminster Magistrates Court.  George Beattie our Health and Safety Officer will be attending together with other UNISON reps.
