Coronavirus: What’s happening where you work?......

The coronavirus crisis has turned the UK upside down in a matter of weeks.

Many employers have quickly acted to safeguard their workers’ health and livelihoods, with distancing measures and protective equipment, or guaranteeing full pay for workers who are sent home.

But there has been shocking behaviour by some bosses – keeping workplaces open when government guidance is to close, laying workers off with no pay, or failing to introduce measures to slow the spread of contamination.

Unions are pushing for fair treatment for everyone at work. But we need to know more about what the problems are.

If you have concerns about how your employer is responding to coronavirus, please fill out our survey.  Click here to read more.

Instead one of the country’s biggest industries has been left in limbo by politicians making-up policy on the hoof.  Click here to read more.

Coronavirus: your rights at work......

We believe that many of our contracted-out staff members do not receive the same benefits as directly employed members, such as holiday and sick pay.

As a result, employees may be forced to continue working if they are feeling unwell.

We would ask you to contact the employers to ensure that their employees are made aware of their rights and responsibilities to our workplace. Employees are able to seek Statutory Sick Pay or Universal Credit from day 1 (not day 4) of this illness.

In the light of this current situation, our union members would urge that any future contracts with external providers should include the rights and conditions of existing employees
