PSC: Gaza in crisis: A man-made disaster......

Electricity has been slashed continuously since March and is now available for less than three hours a day. Without the power necessary to treat wastewater, raw, untreated sewage is currently spilling out into Gaza’s beachfront.

More worryingly, the Gazan desalination plants have ground to a halt. A staggering 97% of water in Gaza is undrinkable. What will happen when there is nothing drinkable, and people resort to contaminated water? Continue reading

Open University bans Cuban students – take action now......

One of Britain’s biggest educational institutions, The Open University, is operating a policy that bans applications from Cuban students. The OU cites fear of prosecution from United States’ anti-Cuba blockade laws as justification.

Please take action to end this discriminatory policy today.

The Cuba Solidarity Campaign believes that the Open University’s action is unethical and illegal under UK law, and is asking supporters to take action to overturn it now. Continue reading

Israel uses military force to maintain its oppression of Palestinians. It targets people with tear gas grenades, rubber-coated bullets and live ammunition, and carries out mass arrests, house demolitions and extrajudicial executions.

In the summer of 2014, Israel carried out its deadliest ever massacre of Palestinians in Gaza, killing more than 2,300 people including 550 children. Continue reading

UAF are calling a counter demonstration on June 24th, meeting at Whitehall at 11:30am.
 
Fascist Islamophobes of the EDL have called a march in central London on this Saturday, June 24th.  The EDL are seeking to scapegoat Muslims following the appalling terror attacks in the UK.
 
 
UAF ask all who defend multiculturalism to join the demonstration.

Fast-food giants in Germany refuse to pay workers a living wage......

Since last October, German fast-food workers have been in a conflict with employers over fair pay and a living wage. In collective bargaining with the German food workers union NGG, the companies have offered a wage which is considerably below what the German government calculates as the minimum needed to build for a decent retirement. Since the start of this year, more than 1000 workers and supporters have participated in protest actions and warning strikes at McDonald’s, Burger King, Starbucks, Pizza Hut and Autogrill. The employers have shown no serious willingness to negotiate a living wage. Continue reading
